Our New Adventure-based Challenge Program
Adventure-based challenge is non-discriminatory; Age, Strength, or Title do not apply.
Shoreline Behavioral Health Services has its own Adventure Based Challenge Ropes Course to enhance the multiple levels of treatment programs already offered. A major focus of the agency's work is preventing alcohol/drug abuse and dependency.
A great deal of this effort is directed toward the youth of Horry County. Adventure Based Counseling utilizes an innovative, experiential, high impact program that facilitates behavioral changes and explores alternate ways of dealing with personal problems, without resorting to chemical substance use. This is an alternative program targeted to enhance effective communications while challenging the participants in Adventure Based Challenge activities.
The ropes course is designed to increase self confidence and self awareness, as well as teach the virtues of group cooperation. The goal of challenge-by-choice is for people to realize their full potential and push themselves one step more. Each individual is given the chance to explore the depth of their own abilities and to enjoy the safety and security of being part of a cohesive unit dedicated to a common objective. Information concerning alcohol, tobacco and other drug issues is presented and discussed with participants in the informal, relaxed setting of the course (i.e. How would you like to have the person responsible for your safety on the ropes to be high on drugs or alcohol?)
A corporate training model is being used to provide leadership, group cooperation, teamwork and self-confidence training for business groups. The program is a combination of low (groundwork/initiative problems) and high (treetop) activities, presented in a prescribed sequence. Our facilitators can design a workshop that will best meet your goals and fit your schedule, whether it be a half day, full day or multi-day adventure. Participants learn skills that are useful in effective management, utilization of information and working collaboratively with others from diverse backgrounds.
Customized workshops are designed to:
* Increase personal effectiveness and leadership skills * Develop and enhance communication skills * Promote teamwork * Enable conflict resolution and creative problem solving * Improve employee morale * Enhance opportunities for personal growth and goal setting * Learn respect for other's abilities * Just have fun!!!
Corporate/Business participants include:
* Horry County Solicitor's Office * Conway Magistrate's Office * Various Horry County Schools * Cingular Wireless Sales Representatives * Horry Telephone Cooperative, Inc. * Conway Chamber Adult & Youth Leadership Groups * South Carolina New Principals Academy
It is through Adventure Based Activities that Groups become Teams, & Strangers become Friends!!!
